Again no internet. For a while it was working, and working on the G4 computer I have been using for writing since I ordered it obsessively and impulsively from E-Bay from a graphic design company which was getting rid of old stock (at the time I ordered it and asked for it to be delivered at a time I knew my parents would likely be away, though in the event they were not).
It was working but playing up too, because I encountered a problem. A few months back in trying to install the Adobe Creative Suite (also E-Bayed obsessively), I discovered that I did not know the administration password to the computer. I had to send off for some kind of OS X disc to reset the password, only, unbeknownst to me, there was another password which would not be reset by this disc, but which would be equally important. Macs have a piece of software called “Keychain access”, and this is utilised, or seems to be utilised in any case on my computer, when Safari, the browser, steps into an encrypted page. And so, since I fixed the internet itself a couple of weeks back by simply following the instructions on the internet service provider’s idiot-proof booklet, I have been locked out of my blog, with the browser timing out every time I attempt to upload anything. Consequently, posts are stacking up since inevitably I don’t have the organisational skills to simply put them on a pocket drive and e-mail them from work (which would in any case be dangerous, of course) or home.
Since coming back from the meeting, I’ve been cooking for her and a friend, a former au pair, who came over from France today bearing gifts of foie gras, and then watching television, the Restaurant, in which teams compete against each other while running restaurants for Raymond Blanc, and having dropped them off at around nine-ish, I have just got upstairs to write, so tired having dropped off M____ this morning. I have so much to write stacking up in a new little book, and really, how much will I manage? So little. My life is going so badly outside of this. Really so badly, and this is all I get from writing, some blog which would be pissy and unimportant even if it were written well! And now the internet doesn’t work! Again! After I spent so much time the first time and lost my rag.
